Dear friends,

The 25th Executive Committee of HKOSA was recently elected at the 24th AGM, and was inaugurated on 24th August, 2011. Yet even as we celebrate the Association’s 25th Anniversary this year, the Executive Committee leads the Association at a critical juncture – one that has seen fewer Executive Committee candidates run for election, due to the introduction of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education. Nevertheless, we shall exert our greatest efforts in upholding the success of our predecessors. By promoting participation in social services for charitable causes, we strive to instill into students a stronger social conscience.

Our theme this year is ‘Educate. Innovate. A new decade.’ We hope to inject new life into the Association, while maintaining its fine traditions and harnessing the academic rigour of its members to further benefit society as a whole. To this end, we plan to organise two external projects in this coming session, namely:

• Global Confluence 2012, where student participants are encouraged to develop an understanding of globalisation and its ramifications for different countries, by experiencing the cultures of these nations through a range of stimulating activities; and
• Interflow Camp 2012, which aims to improve students’ personal development, interpersonal skills and social awareness, by engaging them in a variety of group activities and games.

Despite consisting of only six members, this year’s Executive Committee is wholeheartedly committed to maintaining the fine standards of HKOSA and expanding its horizons. Thus, we are confident that the coming session will be equally if not more successful than the last.
