Welcome to the Official Webpage of HKOSA!

For the past 22 years, our Association has strived to provide innovative projects for students to expose themselves to all aspects of society, as well as to develop their leadership skills and sense of social conscience. Keeping the previous ideals of “Social Obligation, Local Sensation, Global Aspiration” we hope to continue contributing to all sectors of society and drawing our members closer together. This year, bearing the theme “EXPLORE: EXPerience the earth, LOve the living, REach to reality”, the 23rd Executive Committee is devoted to continue to serve the community with great passion.

We believe that every breakthrough in human history originates from an initiative to explore. There is unlimited knowledge in the world and boundless potential within oneself, but not until we put aside our mere curiosity and take action, can we clearly perceive how much we can truly achieve. Not until we step out our comfort zone with the adventurous spirit of exploration can we realise what is outside our circle. Therefore, the Executive Committee has opted for the theme “EXPLORE” this year.

Through the various external projects we will organise this year, we hope to provide students in Hong Kong with the chance to EXPerience the earth through gaining fascinating cultural insights of different countries; the chance to express their LOve for the living, through serving the needy with a compassionate heart; and the chance to REach to reality through acquiring in depth knowledge of highly-debated topics of society and through experiencing them first-hand.

With pioneering spirit and tremendous courage, just like that of Christopher Columbus, we are confident that this is going to be another remarkable year in the history of OSA. We look forward to your support and participation in our projects. May we anticipate another wondrous year for the HKOSA!

Thank you for visiting our site!

Cindy Leung

The Interflow Camp 2010 - "Ecovation" has been successfully held between 27th to 29th July 2010 at the Po Leung Kuk Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp. The camp promotes the message for a lower impact lifestyle in the 21st century by achieving sustainable development. The camp was a simulation of a climate conference for young scientists of different countries to attend and share their perspectives and understanding on sustainable living.
Before the camp, participants had the opportunities to visit CLP EcoHome and EcoPark Visitor's Centre, two green exhibitions to deepen their understanding on the issue of green lifestyle. In the camp, participants took part in a wide range of activities ranging from presenting an innovation made from trash and used goods, a cap-and-trade simulation and the creation of a music video to promote the message to fellow youth. These music videos are now accessible at www.youtube.com/ICamp2010Ecovation.
Thanks must be given to our title sponsor, CLP Group, for their unwavering support, as well as other supporting organisations, schools, participants and organising committee members.

As a tradition of our Association, the Annual Dinner is the most important internal event of the year, serving as a round-up for yet another fruitful year of our Association. The Annual Dinner 2010 will provide an excellent opportunity for you and other members to come together to recall and share your past memories in the OSA family, as well as to look ahead into your sparkling futures. This year, the theme of the special dinner is 'ROSA' - 'rose' in Latin. Red and white roses symbolise love and unity, and at the same time, 'ROSA' reads 'ROSE' plus 'OSA', portraying the everlasting love and friendship established in our big OSA family. More importantly, it is hoped to commemorate our dearest Auntie Doreen who was always a caring mentor in our family. The details of the dinner are as follows:
Date: 1st August 2010 (Sunday)
Time: 19:00 - 21:45 (Registration starts at 18:30)
Venue: Happy Valley Suite, Hong Kong Football Club, 3 Sports Road, Happy Valley, Hong Kong Fee: HKD240 per head

At the Final Summit, commission groups focusing on one of the six pioneering industries delivered their findings and proposals to address the problems of the development, as seen by youth today. These viewpoints, after being consolidated, will be published as a resolution to reflect our concerns and proposals for developing the Six Pillar Industries.

Ms Doreen Leung Dor-Ling, our honorary advisor, has left us peacefully on 1st November 2009. On behalf of the Hong Kong Outstanding Students’ Association, we would like to express our deepest grief towards her pass away and our gratitude to her guidance and nurturing through these years.

Honoured with the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award in 1984, Ms Leung had been a keen supporter of youth development in Hong Kong amongst many of her specialised fields. She served as the chairperson of the Organising Committee of the Hong Kong Outstanding Students Award since its inception in 1985, and had always been a guiding figure for our Association through these 24 years. She had been a great mentor to us all, and taught us valuable lessons in life.

Her pass away is a great loss to our Association and society at large. May we pass on our warm regards to her family and friends and we would once again like to thank her for her contributions to young people in Hong Kong. Without Auntie Doreen's zealous contribution to the Award and its development, our Association and the friendships among OSArs would have never been possible. Auntie Doreen will always stay in our hearts.
