The commencement of the new school year signifies the start of work and fun! If you are eager to meet up with your OSA friends to share more memorable experiences, the chance is just around the corner ¡V the 25th Executive Committee would like to invite you to be part of the Organising Committee (OC) for the Association¡¦s first external project this year ¡V Global Confluence 2012!
Global Confluence is a multi-cultural experience programme that aims to educate participants about globalisation and its effects on countries at different levels of development. The highlight of the programme will be a Global Forum, where groups representing different countries will participate in a formal roundtable discussion and debate. This year's Global Confluence will be held from 25th February to 31st March, 2012 with around 120 Form 3 to Form 5 participants from secondary schools around Hong Kong. It is our sincere hope that this year's programme will be another remarkable success.
Without doubt, the project cannot be solely organised by the Executive Committee, and we would therefore like to sincerely invite you to join the Organising Committee. This year, the Project Chairpersons are LEUNG, John (2522); CHAN, Keith (2504); TAI, Jacqueline (2638); and CHAN, Amy (2505).
The Organising Committee will be divided into two departments:
1. Programming Department (Around 30 OCs needed)
- Prepare and design programmes
- Monitor the rundown of programmes
- Manage logistics and purchase of materials
2. Publication, Publicity and Administration Department (Around 10 OCs needed)
- Promote the project in publication
- Prepare press releases
- Design and produce banners and certificates
- Be in charge of audio/visual materials, photo taking and video recording
We would also like to invite 24 of our Organising Committee members to be Group Ambassadors, facilitating participants' involvement during activities. It should be noted that Group Ambassadors must be present throughout the visits, workshops and meetings of their respective groups.
Please be reminded that being part of the Organising Committee requires a lot of responsibility and motivation, as you will be coping with both academics as well as this project. You will not be able to quit halfway through, once you have committed yourself. Nevertheless, it is a very rewarding and unique experience, so if you are interested in becoming a member of the Organising Committee, please kindly fill in the attached application form and submit it to globalconfluence@osa.org.hk on or before Friday, 18th November, 2011. But before submitting, please ensure that you have read the instructions at the bottom of the form carefully. Any incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Please note, however, that the resume and teacher¡¦s reference letter will be a minor factor in the success or otherwise of your application; the main deciding factor will be interview, which will be held on Sunday, 4th December, 2011 for applicants who have been shortlisted for the next round. N.B. Some potential applicants have reported that the ¡¥Submit¡¦ button in the application form does not seem to work very well. For Gmail users, please note that in order for the button to work, you must click Download when opening the attachment, instead of just clicking View, so that the form opens in Adobe Reader and not in the web browser. Should the button fail to work even then, please submit your form as a screenshot of the first section, together with a separate Word document for the answers to the longer questions.
